SCR's Move To Help Frontline Staff De-Stress

Hyderabad: A yoga room and a meditation hall have been built for loco pilots at Kacheguda Railway Station under South Central Railways, Hyderabad Division, to help them beat the stress of their hectic working hours, which last for at least 8 hours. Other facilities, like regular health checkups and counselling centres to address their personal and professional issues, are also provided in the upgraded crew running room.

According to the SCR officials, the comfort of loco and assistant loco pilots is of utmost importance. These arrangements have been made so that they can relax amid their hectic schedule. Currently, in Kacheguda, the Crew Booking Lobby is one of the busiest working place with around 300 Staff signing on/signing off to their duties every day. They are involved in running trains in several directions from the Kacheguda area to Nanded, Bodhan, Medak, Siddipet, Dhone, Raichur etc. Loco Pilots job demands a high level of concentration and skill, Railways ensures that they are provided with proper accommodation and rest between their shifts so that they can rejuvenate themselves and be prepared for the next trip.

Highlighting about the features, Lokesh Vishnoi, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division, said Hyderabad Division is according highest priority to frontline Running Staff involved in Train operations. They play a vital role in maintaining punctuality and safe running of Trains. Also the Running Room provides a convenient and relaxed environment for the Loco Pilots to help maintain their well-being and alertness to ensure smooth running of Trains. Kacheguda Running Room provides comfortable accommodation to the 24 members of Staff coming from various directions in a day, he said. The Staff is also provided with healthy and hygienic breakfast, lunch and dinner facility with subsidised nominal rates, Lounge/Reading Room, Yoga Room for Meditation etc.

Accordingly, the running room at Kacheguda enables the Crew Members to avail complete rest in disturbance free Air Conditioned (AC) Rooms so that they can be prepared to perform their duty safely. Apart from this, the Crew Booking Lobby is the hub for booking the running Staff for duty, he said. It is equipped with Integrated KIOSKs (Breath Analyzer, Bio-Metric & Webcam) for signing on/off of Loco Pilots, Assistant Loco Pilots&Train Managers (Guards), said senior officer , Hyderabad Division.
